Many discussions recently have focussed on having more than one eBay account. Ebay has no problems with this, as long as each account is kept in good standing. Following are five reasons for opening multiple accounts.
1. Buyer Confidence.
If you are selling goldfish bowls for example, which username do you think will give abuyer more confidence – “dave1234″ or “goldfishsupplies”? When selling in more than one category on a regular basis, having multiple accounts will allow you to target your audience with a higher precision.
2. Ebay Features.
The ability to open more than one eBay Store. eBay only allows one store (or shop) per account. This is easily solved by having multiple accounts.
3. Feedback.
Protect your feedback, if one transaction as a seller goes bad and you get negative feedback, it will not affect your sales as a whole as you’ll still have excellent feedback on your other accounts.
4. Cross-Promotion Connections.
eBay allows you to cross-promote other sellers’ items within your listings. By using this feature, you can cross-promote your other accounts within your eBay listings to bring some much valued visibility.
5. eBay Arbitrage.
Many sellers buy off eBay in order to resell the item almost immediately. Having an account for selling only, will allow you to hide the items you’ve purchased with a separate account.
Now over to you, what’s your biggest reason for having multiple accounts?

1That is a good list… I would also add to that, some sellers like to have one account for selling and one for buying so the “buying” ID can’t screw up the selling one, which is more important if you are a seller.
Thanks for the post. Scott

2Hi Scott
True, it makes a lot of sense to keep buying and selling activity separate as you suggest. Most viewers will read the negative feedback but won’t take the time to see if it’s for buying or selling.
Nice addition.

7A Simple Sales Strategy: Define What Selling Is!
How do you define selling? A lot of people think of selling as persuading/convincing people to buy things they may or may not want or need. To some, selling is all about closing a deal. Thinking of selling like this is not very empowering to you. Frank…

10I have always been afraid to shop from e bay due to it’s fraud cases which one of my friend experiences. Actually he, tried to purchase a laptop from ebay, he paid the bill but ebay account hasn’t showed any information of purchase, though the amount has been deducted from my friend’s account.

11Yes having multiple account helps a lot. Particularly the point in which you have mentioned about feedbacks is very true. I have 3 accounts. Out of which one has poor feedback. But that does not affect the performance of other accounts.

13Multiple accounts are needed when as ebay seller you want to list various unrelated items. For example same seller selling computer peripherals and woolen sweaters wont look that good right?!

15Hi all,
Ebay keeps suspending my account ( every few months ) , I really dont understand the reason eventhough I have a good feedback rating and almost never had a dispute.
They say its seller “Seller Non-Performance “ but I don’t think it’s the reason but my feedback socore is 98.5 and I have at least 4.6 star rating and almost never had a dispute
Im thinking to open multiple accounts so I can use them if they ever close my account, Does anyone of you know how to do it ?
Thanks,
John Lewis

18thank u for the recommendation but i think it’s easy to create multiple ebay accounts but not that easy to maintain all those accounts in the same time.so i prefer one account.

19I have multiple eBay IDs. Each one of them have their own paypal account, bank account. In that case, I don’t mess with the cash flow.

21Great post as for me. I’d like to read something more about this matter. The only thing it would also be great to see here is a few pictures of some devices.
