Are you a member of Squaretrade? If you don’t know or haven’t heard of Squaretrade it is a service which is meant to establish trust between buyers and sellers online. Mostly used by eBay sellers, the service claims to be your online companion for Protecting yourself & your online purchases, Verifying Quality Sellers & Finding low prices and product information.

I joined Squaretrade three or four months ago, hoping it would be a catalyst to increase my eBay sales. Squaretrade members have to go though a process of verifying their physicial address before they are accepted and before the seal is posted on your eBay listings.

So, did the Squaretrade seal help establish credibility on my eBay sales? Did I use the service to dispute any problems or have negative feedback removed.

Well the answer was a definite No.

For the period while I had a Squaretrade seal posted to my website and listings, sales auctually fell. Although the Squaretrade membership provides you with intense useful statistics on your eBay sales these will be mostly useless if your sales are considerably down.

Either way, any decent marketer should be well aware of how many sales their making and at what cost without the need for Squaretrade or similar reports. I still believe that having 100% positive feedback on eBay will contribute towards establishing credibility more than any seal ever can.

So with effect of earlier this evening, I’ve put my Squaretrade membership on hold. When sales pick up, then maybe I’ll considering re-activating it again to see if it has a similar effect.
