With eBay blogs, you can create your own personalized publication featuring your own writing and links to photos. Use your blog to talk about just about anything, from tips and tricks for other eBay members, to a rundown of your recent vacation, to your love of precious stones. And if you’re a seller, keeping a blog is a great way to interact with potential buyers and to talk about your products.â€
In a curious move, eBay.com has launched eBay Blogs. Currently restricted to eBay.com only this will give eBay sellers the opportunity to…………………………… never mind.
Initially I thought this could be considered a move to bit back at googles blogger. Google have recently announced the news of GBuy, which is rumored to be a rival to paypal. Initally I could not see which direction eBay were going or how this would benefit anyone.
However, on second thoughts maybe an eBay blog could be a great opportunity to build credibility for yourself and relationships between you and your customers.
For example, if you run an eBay pet shop you could fill you blog with articles about dog care, travel arrangements for your pet, what to do with your cat when you go on vacation, etc.
If you sell car accessories, you could write a few articles about basic car maintenance such as oil changes or changing a tyre.
Soon to regular viewer anyway, you’ll be established as an expert. You can even recommend your the products your selling in your own articles.
So far, it remains to be seen if eBays link violation policy will apply to blogs. For example can you link to outside websites or not? or other useful resources selling online. Will this be an opportunity for sellers to filter away traffic and sales from eBay?
In the two days since launch, 390 eBay sellers have opened up an eBay blog. However, from the handful I’ve viewed tonight only a very small minority are using it to the potential it could generate for their business.
You can open up your blog at: http://blogs.ebay.com/
