The Times Online has produced a series of Podcasts from Professor Robert Cialdini, on how to become more influential and persuasive. Special thanks go to Tom Whitwell from TimesOnline.co.uk for pointing out the series to me, especially chapter two titled “How to persuade on eBay”.
Only lasting for ten minutes or so, there are no excuses for not listening. It’s main question is whether to start your auctions at a high or low starting price - With the advantages of both explained, you can download it at The Times Online.

Great advice!
Having read Robert Cialdini’s book Influence, which I recommend everyone read.
I would add that the top marketers in the world listen closely when Cialdini speaks.

4I’ve read Cialdini’s work a long time ago and his writings on the practice of persuasion are universally useful for people of all professions and backgrounds, especially business people, marketers and even politicians.
