Everyone’s heard of eBay but, believe it or not, there are other auction sites that many use to boost their business and their sales. Whether you are looking to snag a bargain or earn some extra cash, take the time to consider branching out into a new pool of potential.
Amazon Auctions
We all know Amazon as a popular online book seller, but they are also the home to Amazon Auctions. With reasonable listing and final value fees, Amazon Auctions has become a successful spot for both entrepreneurs and treasure hunters. Because the concept is still growing, it’s possible to find just what you are looking for - whether it’ buyers or a bargain.
Bidz
This auction site has steadily grown over the past several years, and is now an impressive place to buy or sell. Bidz auctions is largely operated as an in-house reseller, but they do allow some businesses to sign up for a seller account. In other words, you have to be a business if you want to list items for sale. But, if you’re searching for a bargain, you can choose from everything
from jewelry and artwork to loose gemstones, collectibles and more.
uBid
Another popular online auction site, uBid is a great way to buy or sell. The large selection of items up for grabs is one of the most attractive incentives to potential buyers. Nearly everyone can shop on uBid, but you must have a business license when applying for a seller’s account. If approved, you will be given permission to list auctions.
Bid4Assets
If you are in the market for real estate, automobiles, estate jewelry or other similar items, Bid4Assets is a must-see auction site. In addition to participating in online auctions, buyers have the option of browsing the occasional foreclosure and/or tax sale.
Bidville
As a growing online auction site, Bidville offers an affordable way for everyone to venture into the world of buying and selling. Buyers can still find a nice selection of items, and vendors still have the opportunity to reach potential customers without feeling as though they are lost in a sea of sellers.

3The fact Ebay comes with the amazing PayPal payment service is what sets it apart from “the rest”, in my humble opinion.
The payment part of the auction process is so important that if such a “flexible” online service is unavailable, which is usually the case for the competition, the buyer may find it frustrating to go through the motions, paymentwise.

5An interesting experiment Trevor, it’s a shame to see QXL have never took off in the same way as eBay did. At one stage they were bigger than eBay in the UK.
Do you think other auction sites will ever be able to compete directly with eBay or only have limited succeed if they’re targeting a niche (i,e Adult auctions) ?

6I have to agree with the comment on PayPal being a good business partner, it works and is easy to use. It has become as universal in recognition as Ebay. I prefer it.

7There are so many more that you can choose from but yes tohse are the most recognized. I feel like for any long term success Ebay did a smart thing though enlisting a 3 rd party payment taker like Paypal. It instills trust and provides an independent method for recovery should something go wrong.
